One of the first questions that come up in Google relating to becoming a lawyer is the question “Do lawyers need to be good at maths?” The answer to this question is actually quite simple; no, you don’t need to be good at mathematics. You do, however, need excellent analytical skills. Don’t get us wrong, being relatively good at maths can help hone those analytical and reasoning skills, so some law firms will have a slight preference for candidates with a background in math.
That said, the most important thing you can do when looking to become a lawyer is to concentrate solely on the course itself, reading relevant books and researching inside and outside of a university. With a degree in law, you’ll learn a lot, but you won’t be the finished article. You’ll need to take the skills you’ve learned and use your motivation to gain work experience and apply those skills.
